You are now on UiA's old website. The information you find here may be outdated.
At both UiA campuses, there are far more employees and students than parking spaces. UiA therefore recommends that employees, students and visitors walk, cycle or use public transport. This also has a positive effect on the environment and health.
If you pay by cash or card, it is very important that you enter your vehicle registration number on the pay machine.
We recommend that you use the visitor car park if there are few available parking spaces.
The parking areas at UiA are marked with parking signs - a black P on a white background.
Motorcycles and mopeds must park in the designated motorcycle parking areas. In area P5 - in front of the main entrance to Campus Grimstad, or in the marked spaces between P1 and P3. On Campus Kristiansand, motorbikes and mopeds can park in front of the cycle parking area near the main entrance. Motorcycle parking is free.
The Apcoa Flow app does not work well on international mobile phones. Use the online version of Apcoa if you have a foreign mobile phone.
More detailed answers to many of these questions can be found on the parking web pages “General information about parking at UiA” or on the respective pages for parking at Campus Grimstad or Campus Kristiansand.
If you can't find an answer to your question, mail it to hjelp@uia.no.
Do I have to pay for parking in the evening/at night or on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays?
Yes. The stated parking fee for the relevant parking area applies to all days and at all hours.
Where shall I send my complaint about the parking fine I got? To UiA, who receives the money, or to Apcoa, who operates the parking areas and system?
Apcoa handles all cases about fines – find the complaint form under "Kontrollsanksjon" at https://apcoasupport.no/ or www.kontrollavgift.no
Are there regular rates for parking fines?
Yes. Fining is in accordance with the national parking regulations that came into force 1 January, 2017 with additional updates – see the government’s press release or the regulation on lovdata.no.
Can the parking areas for employees be used when going on a work trip and if you are away for several days?
Yes. Employees going on a work trip can park their cars for more than 14 hours/for longer periods on the parking areas reserved for employees as long as a the car has an active registration for (UiA-fordelsparkering) UiA benefit scheme in the Apcoa Flow-app.
How about when a group or a division is going on a work trip and park their cars on campus for several days, and the time of departure is so late that there are no more available parking spaces for employees?
Such trips are usually planned well in advance, so please contact hjelp@uia.no well in advance so we can together come up with good solutions.
If you have parked in one area and then leave, you are allowed to come back and park your car without paying a new parking fee. But do you have to park in the same area?
Yes – but not necessarily in the same parking area. But you must park in an area with the same code as where you first parked your car.
Example: In the morning, you park your car in P4 in front of Hokus Pokus kindergarten on Campus Kristiansand. Then you must leave for a trip to Campus Grimstad, and return after lunch and park in P1 – the main parking area. Both these areas have the same Apcoa code: 6848 – and when Apcoa scans license plates, there will not be any problems. The same applies if you park in P3 – the upper parking – on Campus Grimstad and return later to park your car in P2 – the car park. Same rate and same Apcoa code.
The parking area near the Natural Museum on Campus Kristiansand (P7) has its own Apcoa code, so it is not possible to park there and return to park in another parking areas or vice-versa. Most people will probably not want to park for long durations at these parking spaces with a NOK 20 per hour rate.
How much does it cost to use the app?
Apcoa (Europark): Registering and first-time usage adds an additional 1 NOK to the parking fee. Using the app afterwards does not add any additional charges.
Easy Park: A small fee is added each time you use the app. For a 14-hour parking period that costs NOK 10, NOK 1.50 is added. This means that you pay NOK 11.50 for a 14-hour parking period. In the guest parking areas - which means the areas that costs NOK 20 per hour, Easy Park adds a minimum fee of NOK 4 for the first hour, then 15 % (NOK 3) per hour. This means for the first hour the fee totalt to 24, the first two hours the fee totals at 46 - and so on. Fees are stated in the pricing information at https://easypark.no/help/no/2432 on Easy Parks website https://easypark.no.
UiA has facilitated the use of two apps to pay parking fees – Apcoa (former Europark) or Easy Park, which you can find in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
Apcoa’s app lets you pay the parking fee without any further costs, but for first-time usage after registering a debit/credit card, NOK 1.00 comes in addition to the parking fee. Here you find Apcoa's website. A separate UiA-agreement for employees who are parking on the two areas reserved for UiA employees.
Easy Park’s app charges an additional fee og NOK 1.50 when used to pay the regular parking fee. This means that you pay NOK 11.50 for a 14-hour parking period. In the guest parking areas - which means the areas that costs NOK 20 per hour, Easy Park adds a minimum fee of NOK 4 for the first hour, then 15 % (NOK 3) per hour. This means for the first hour the fee totals to NOK 24, the first two hours the fee totals at NOK 46 - and so on. Read more on Easy Parks website.
NOK 10 for up to 14 hours. In Grimstad you must have a valid ‘parking benefit’ in the Apcoa Flow app and must pay via the app to get the correct rate. Visitors pay the visitor rate independent of parking area. In Kristiansand you can use EasyPark or pay machine in addition to Apcoa Flow.
NOK 20 per hour. Payment is made at the machine on site by coins or card or via the Apcoa Flow app (free to use - but charging 1 NOK the first time you use the app) or EasyPark (Kristiansand only), which charges for use. In the short-term visitor parking areas - the areas that charge NOK 20 per hour - EasyPark adds 15% or a minimum NOK 4. This means that for the first hour the fee is NOK 24, two hours cost NOK 46 and an additional NOK 3 per extra hour. Read more on EasyPark’s website.
A limited number of parking spaces are reserved for employees at UiA. Employees must pay the same day rate of NOK 10 per 14 hours in these areas.
Cars parked in a manner that violates the parking rules will be fined, NOK 660 currently - or NOK 990 if the car is parked in a space reserved for movement-disabled with a parking permit.

UiA has engaged Apcoa as a controlling authority.
Apcoa fines violations of parking rules and is also the appellate authority.
Apcoa handles all cases about fines – meaning that all inquiries and complaints must go through Apcoa's systems. On Apcoa's website “About fines” you can also find out how to contact Apcoa's customer support centre.
Click here for the Norwegian Consumer Council’s checklist for complaints.
Apcoa's controlling activity is performed for a set cost. Income from fines and parking go directly to UiA and is used to operate the parking facilities and for environmental efforts, cf. UiA Board’s resolution in item 101/16.

Disabled parking is free of charge.
If you break your leg or become temporary movement-disabled in another manner, please contact at help@uia.no to check if you can get a temporary permit to use disabled parking.
the fee for incorrect parking on HC spaces is currently NOK 990,-
