Kristiansand, Norway
June 19-21 In memory of John Barkley Rosser Jr.
History
The bi-annual conference on Nonlinear Economic Dynamics (NED) continues a series of interdisciplinary scientific meetings focusing on nonlinear dynamic modeling in economics and finance.
Aims and Scope
The NED series aims at facilitating the interdisciplinary exchange among economists and mathematicians interested in nonlinear economic dynamics.
The spectrum of research genres featured at past conferences covers
Complex processes in economics and finance modeled by nonlinear dynamical systems (smooth and piecewise smooth, continuous and discontinuous, in discrete and continuous time, systems with delay);
Topics in evolutionary game theory;
Dynamics of systems with adaptive expectation, social interaction, learning mechanisms, heterogeneous agents;
Interaction between economic and environmental dynamics;
Behavioral economic models, models of structural change and growth, models of new economic geography.

NED 2023 will take place in Kristiansand, a coastal city at the southern tip of Norway. The region enjoys a temperate oceanic climate. The average temperature in June amounts to 19 °C with a record low of 0 °C and a record high of 31 °C. A visitor can expect 274 sunshine hours throughout the month. Kristiansand was found in 1,641 by the Dano-Norwegian King Christian IV. With a population of around 112,000, it is currently the 5th largest city in Norway. It is situated in one of the most dynamically developing regions of Scandinavia. Traditionally, the local economy has been dominated by the shipping industry. The past decades brought significant structural change resulting in a significant role of the oil related industry (drilling technology, suppliers to petroleum sector) for the local industrial base. The city’s main institution of higher education is the University of Agder (UiA) established in 2007.
Currently, 14,215 students are enrolled at UiA. About 1,400 faculty and staff members are employed in six faculties. The institution maintains campuses in both Kristiansand and Grimstad. NED 2023 will take place on the campus in Kristiansand situated about 2.5 kilometers from the city center. Most events will take place in the main university building indicated as the B-building (B-bygget) on the map of the campus.
