Would you like to study Jazz and improvisation on the outskirts of Paris?
Didier Lockwood Music Center (CMDL) was founded in 2000 by Didier Lockwood and his staff consisting of Benoit Sourisse, André Charlier and Chantal Charlier. CMDL is located in Dammarie-Lès-lys (45 km from Paris) and has really become a national and international reference in Jazz and improvised music.
CMDL offers music lessons driven by a genuine desire to transfer and defend jazz and improvised music. This school is a friendly and family place. Every year, there are around sixty students. These are chosen for their artistic potential, their motivation and their ability to show progression. The classes consist of between 8 and 10 students. In addition to the theoretical and technical lessons in music, pedagogy is focused so that one can reveal the musical identity and creative potential of each musician.
CMDL is happy to connect former students with new students to facilitate the housing search. There are student housing approx. 3.5 km from CMDL. Here are 160 furnished rooms from 18 to 20 m2, including kitchenette and toilet. CMDL will be able to provide more information about different types of housing. Read more here.
Admission
You must be registered on a study program at UiA. For more information on admission requirements- please follow the link.
It is necessary to know some French in order to benefit from the teaching, since the subjects are taught in French. Erasmus + provides support for language courses. Contact the International Office at UiA for guidance on the various language learning opportunities.
As a performing music student, you must attach recordings / have an entrance exam as part of the application.
