Inger Beate Larsen is educated as a psychiatric nurse with a major in Health Sciences and a PhD from the University of Bergen. She has years of experiences from an acute psychiatric ward, and since 1994 she has been working in a scientific position at the University of Agder. From 2009 until 2022 she has been the manager of the research group "An including society" at the department of health- and sport sciences.
Larsen is engaged in issues related to mental health as an author, researcher and as a university professor. She is particularly interested in architecture and health, service user involvement and coercion related to mental health services.
