Sveinung has education and experience as a physical education teacher in both primary and secondary school. Trainer and activity manager experience from children and youth sports. He also holds a master’s degree in sports science with specialization in physiology from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences.
Doctoral degree from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences with specialization in physical activity and health. The main intention of the dissertation was to investigate whether an inactive lifestyle can lead to an increased likelihood of asthma. He has worked with research projects at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the University of Oslo, Oslo University Hospital, Haukeland University Hospital and now at the University of Agder.
The main research focus today is exercise and lifestyle related to cancer. Active commuting and participating in youth sports are two other priorities.
