Low-tech music making and affinity spaces for digital musicking resides safely at the heart of Vegard's research interests. His previous work explores chipmusic practice and its social dimension, mapping aesthetic value and creative ideologies through online ethnography and artist auto-ethnography. The past 5-10 years, interest in chipmusic research, ludomusicology and informal learning in electronic music education has peaked. Exploring the process of chipmusic learning within and outside its affinity spaces has become the aim of this Ph.D project. What can chipmusic tell us about low-tech music as an informal learning environment?
