Marianne Klungland Bahus is Professor at the School of Business and Law at the University of Agder. She is also affiliated with the university's Center for E-Health.
Bahus holds a PhD in health law and medical ethics from the University of Oslo, where she also took her law degree. She is committed to health law and has worked specifically with the legal and medicine-ethical aspects of life-and-death decisions. Her doctoral dissertation was an empirical study of a selection of Norwegian physicians' decision-making when faced with a choice of giving or not giving life-prolonging treatment to severely ill and dying patients.
Bahus has published several articles in scientific journals, such as European Journal of Health Law, Resuscitation and Rætferd, Nordisk Juridisk Tidsskrift. She has also presented her own research at several international conferences.
Together with Camilla Herlofsen, Bahus leads an interdicilpinary research group in Educatoin law.
Bahus gives lectures in ethics at the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo. Since 2012, she has been responsible for the website "Health Law", published by a major Norwegian lexicon company. Bahus is also a member of the south-east regional committee for medical and health research ethics and the clinical ethical committee at Sørlandet Hospital.
Bahus is a former fellow at the Center for Medical Ethics at the University of Oslo. She was a government-appointed member of the Palliation Committee, and a member of the Norwegian Bar Association’s Committee for Welfare Law. Bahus is also an experienced lawyer in her own law firm.
