Michaela Trippl is Professor II at the School of Business and Law at the University of Agder.

She is also Full Professor of Economic Geography at the University of Vienna (Austria). Trippl holds a PhD from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria). 

Trippl’s research and teaching have been dedicated to economic geography and innovation studies. She has a special focus on the geography of innovation, regional innovation systems and policies, long-term regional industrial restructuring, and labor mobility and regional development.

Trippl has co-authored several books and contributed with a large number of book chapters within her fields of expertise. She has also published articles in various scientific journals, such as Economic Geography, Regional Studies, Environment and Planning A, Progress in Human Geography, Cambridge Journals of Regions, Economy and Society, and Research Policy.

Trippl is frequently asked to be a key-note speaker at international conferences throughout Europe.

She is a former Assistant Professor at the Institute for Regional Development and Environment at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and Associate Professor at Lund University (Sweden).
