I am a marine ecologist working on coastal species of crustacean and fish inside and outside marine protected areas (MPAs). I am particularly interested in eco-evolutionary processes with a focus on harvesting and protection effects, reproductive behaviour and sexual selection. Current research focus on the development of computer vision (deep learning) to detect, classify, track and re-identify fish in marine systems using an innovative combination of pit-telemetry and underwater cameras. In the past, I have used genetic parent-offspring relationships to study fine-scale mate selection in wild populations of European lobster and mark-recapture studies for assessing the selectivity and impact of the commercial wrasse fishery supplying the aquaculture industry with cleaner fish. I am also involved in various projects and development of underwater observational platforms and camera rigs and seamless integration of different data sources. Feel free to mention me in a post.
