I am a trained nurse (Haukeland Sykepleierhøgskole, 1985) and political scientist (University of Bergen, 1993) and PhD (University of Oslo, 2014).
My professional background is varied, but is largely connected to activities within health care in the public and private sector (nurse Haukeland Hospital - emergency department and Voss Hospital - intensive care, nurse off-shore, scientific assistant University of Bergen, special consultant Stavanger Municipality and Rogaland County Municipality, general manager Infovital ASA, Chief Health and Social Officer Evje og Hornnes municipality, working chairman/project developer Evjeklinikken AS, head of department University of Agder).
At the University of Agder, as head of department, university lecturer, associate professor and now as professor, I have taught a number of subjects at bachelor's and master's level (ranging from social planning, organizational theory, health informatics, public health, to anatomy, statistics and research methods).
My research foci have been aimed at obesity research, particularly related to patient-reported subjective outcome measures (PROMS), but are now aimed more at social sciences, public health and sexology.
