Instruction is in its entirety carried out on various locations in Malaya, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia. These locations represent rich religious, ethnic and social diversity. The lectures are generally in Norwegian, but local lecturers and religious leaders will contribute to the instruction. The study is affiliated with one of UiA¿s partner universities in Malaya.
It consists of two courses, on level 100 (10 ECTS credits). The courses are given sequentially. The first examination is arranged during the first half of the semester. There is a limited number of places.
Upon completion of the course the students shall
Knowledge
Have acquired a thorough knowledge about the four great world religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity
Skills
Have broad knowledge about the diversity in ethical thinking within the specific religions and secular world views
General competence
Be able to apply intercultural and inter-religious competence in the encounter with people in various settings
