At the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation we work with language and literature – as an academic discipline, in translation studies and in teacher training. We offer English, French, Spanish, German and translation studies. Research activity in the department covers fields like: Translation and intercultural communication, early modern and modern literature from the various language areas, depictions of trauma in literature and other art forms, song lyrics, experimental linguistics, corpus studies of student texts and research in didactics. Dissemination of current social issues is an important part of what we do.
The department publishes Nordic Journal of Language Teaching and Learning.
This department has been granted free access to the Phrase Academic Edition, an academic program designed for universities with translation courses.
