Metochi Study Centre is to contribute to the expansion of academical insights and human understanding, through courses, conferences, seminars and studies.
The Study Centre is to offer a wide range of studies and programs on an advanced level. Subjects and programs naturally connected to the location of the study centre in Greece, and it being part of a Greek Orthodox monastery are to be emphasized. Consequently subjects such as religion, philosophy, ethics, history, human rights, culture studies, ecology and other fields associated with the Mediterranean area are given priority. Metochi can also receive groups with other fields of interest that request a stay at the study centre for pedagogical reasons.
All activities at Metochi are to be characterized by respect and interest for the values and traditions of the monastery and the local community. The study centre is to be run on a non-profit basis.
The study centre is a unit of the University of Agder. This implies that the centre primarily will be used for studies and courses arranged by the University of Agder, and events intended for students and employees of the University of Agder. Close partners such as Agder Research and Student Association Agder will also be given priority. The centre can be used by others, when their activities at Metochi are in accordance with the purpose and priority of the study centre.
The Study Centre is primarily to be used for arrangements intended for students at all levels. But employees at the University of Agder will also be able to use the centre, in groups or individually, for work environment purposes, research and academical pursuits.
