Kanchan Kattel

My background encompasses components of environment and development, with a specific focus on the food systems in the Himalayas. I earned an MSc. in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University in Nepal and a BSc. in Sustainable Development from the Royal University of Bhutan. Before starting my PhD at UiA, I worked as a freelance researcher and a university research assistant in Nepal and explored areas of food and nutrition, farming, and sustainability issues. As a part of the interdisciplinary EATWELL project, I will compile a food composition table, plan and conduct a dietary survey, and nutritional analysis. Partly, I will also be involved in the enthographic nutritional case study in Bhutan.

01.10.2023-dd: PhD Research Fellow in Global Nutrition, Department of Nutrition and Public Health, Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, University of Agder. 

01.07.2022-30.06.2023: Research Assistant at the Institute of Forestry, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, together with some hours of teaching in MSc. Mountain Environment and MSc. Forestry courses. 

26.05.2022-28.07.2022: Erasmus+ Research Trainee at Precision Agriculture and Sustainable Land Use Research Group, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, University of Debrecen, Hungary.

01.11.2021-30.04.2022: Consultant team member to ANSAB Nepal for baseline survey of Non Timber Forest Products in Western Nepal.
