Tor Helge Aas

Tor Helge Aas serves as a Full Professor at School of Business and Law at University of Agder and as the Director of the Executive MBA study program (www.uia.no/mba). Additionally, he holds a part-time position as a Professor II at Kristiania University College

Prof. Aas holds a PhD in Strategy and Management from Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and a MSc in Information and Communication Technology Management from University of Agder. He has also graduated from the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy.

Prof. Aas is researching innovation management, and his research concentrates on topics such as the organizational effects of innovation, innovation processes and capabilities, collaboration for innovation, and management control of innovation. 

The research conducted by Tor Helge Aas has been published in international journals such as TechnovationTechnological Forecasting and Social Change, Industrial Marketing Management, Small Business Economics, International Journal of Innovation Management, Service Industries Journal, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, among many others. He has also co-authored book chapters in books published by, among others, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Cambridge Scholars Publishing and World Scientific Publishing.

Prof. Aas is a member of the management team of the Research Centre for Studies of Innovation for Sustainable Transition (RIST) at the University of Agder. He is also a member of ISPIM’s (International Society for Professional Innovation Management) Scientific Panel.  

Tor Helge Aas is currently also a work package manager in the Horizon 2020 project OpenInnoTrain (https://www.openinnotrain.eu/), and he is member of the research team in the REDI program (https://www.rediprogram.eu/) funded by Horizon 2020.

Prof. Aas has previously served as a post doctor at Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), and as a research professor at Norwegian Research Centre (NORCE). He also has managerial experience from the Royal Norwegian Air Force, and experience as a board member in the industry.

Academic interests

Tor Helge Aas is researching innovation management, particularly in services, and his research concentrates on topics such as 1) the organizational effects of innovation, 2) innovation processes and capabilities, 3) collaboration for innovation, and 4) management control of innovation.

  • Strategic Management (in Bachelor of Science, Business Administration and Executive education)
