Mariann Fossum is Professor at the Department of Health and Nursing Science, University of Agder, Norway. She holds a PhD in medical science with a specialization in health and caring science from Örebro University, Sweden, in 2012, and has postgraduate education in geriatric nursing and a master's degree in nursing science from the University of Oslo. She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching nursing and health informatics, with a focus on documentation in nursing, terminologies, computerized decision support systems, and quality of care. In 2009, she had a research stay at Sinclair School of Nursing, University of Missouri, Columbia, USA, and from 2014-2016, she worked at Deakin University, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Melbourne, Australia as a Research Fellow. She is the Chairman of the program committee for the National Curriculum for the Norwegian Nursing Education, 2021-2025.
She is the Director of the Norwegian ICNP Research & Development Centre.
