Forskning

Prof. Dr. Hals works within the fields of spintronics and spinmechatronics, where the spin of the electron (and not just the charge) is used to develop novel spin-based devices. Important examples of such devices include magnetic random-access memories, which have revolutionized modern memory technology, as well as quantum computing architectures, high frequency oscillators, spin & charge pumps, nanoscale engines, and reprogrammable magnetic logics that are electrically manipulated by currents. The anticipated application potential of this research is in replacing charge-based electronics with ultra-fast, spin-based, low-power, low-noise devices, which have novel forms of signal transmission.
