Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired
The course consists of three sections: theory of knowledge, metaphysics and ethics. Each of the three sections is approached in a historical and systematic manner. The section on theory of knowledge offers an introduction to some philosophical and scientific challenges that humans have met and still meet in their search for truth. The section on metaphysics offers an introduction to different views on the nature of reality that are particularly important in western traditions and current debates. The section on ethics offers an introduction to different theories about rights and wrong, good and evil, both for the individual and the society as a whole.
